75 Years of Service
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
December 7, 2011 will mark the 75th anniversary of our Club. 75 years of serving the Lomita and Harbor City areas.
When our club was chartered in 1936, Lomita and Harbor City area was a farming town with oil wells from Long Beach to Redondo Beach. A group of local merchants started our Club to better our community.
A club member, Richard "Dick" Stevens, who was a prominent Area Real Estate Broker, donated a plot of land he owned in the heart of the downtown Lomita area. His directive was that a Scout Hall be built for Lomita and Harbor City Boy and Girl Scouts. Club members rallied and built the current hall with our own membership talent. The club is used by local Scout Troops.
